“I started my first boot camp with Joe at the end of January 2011. Prior to this I had never run more than 5km and certainly had no race experience. Having completed 3 sets of 5 week training sessions with Joe I was able to continue training quicker and longer, culminating in completing the half marathon in Dingle last September – one of the hardest in Ireland. Under Joe’s guidance I now regularly compete in triathlon and duathlon events and I have never looked back. I can only confirm that training with Joe is challenging while thoroughly enjoyable. Time management is impeccable and the results are outstanding. In summary, Joe has a unique ability in equaling his level of inspiration with the athlete’s level of perspiration!”

"My journey with running began in September 2009. I joined Joe O Connor’s training group to do a 4 miler. When I crossed that line and got my first medal I was hooked, so I continued to train with Joe. I learned so much about fitness and nutrition and the fundamentals of running. The support I received was tremendous. With every 5km to half marathon there would always be a text ‘how did it go?’ Joe gets to know his clients and their own specific needs and for me, Joe gave me the motivation and confidence I needed to achieve my goals. He also found me the perfect running buddy, Joe would show us a route and my running buddy and I would meet up every week to train. When I crossed the line in so many races my running buddy was there with a bottle of water and a banana! The training was hard and you need to be committed but, if you’re willing to put the work in Joe will take you the rest of the way. You will hear his words of wisdom and encouragement when the going gets tough.
Although it was a huge challenge for me to run my first marathon, 26.2miles, it was a greater challenge for Joe to get me there because if I can run a marathon anyone can! They say that only 1% of the population completes a marathon in their lifetime and thanks to Joe I can count myself amongst them so: if you are going to embark on this challenge enjoy the journey it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, and when you cross that finish line, welcome to the 1% club; it’s very exclusive!"

I started training with Joe O’Connor 2 years ago when I was lacking direction and motivation for running. Joe started me on the right path moving me from gym based training to a mix of indoor and outdoor training. Joe has since trained me to complete both the Dublin City Marathon and Cork City Marathon and various other middle distance races. Joe has a broad and varied knowledge of sporting techniques incorporating diet, nutrition and motivational skills. Joe is always there when you are questioning your own ability with words of advice and support. I have also gained a good support network and circle of training friends through Joes training. His alternative approach to training has given me a new found love of both training and running that I never knew before.
